The DEGNZ Workflow Best Practice Guide for Editors & Producers
Rate Cards
Each year we review the standard rate cards for directors and editors, which set what the Guild believes are the acceptable pay rates for work in the different sectors of the screen industry. Below are the latest recommended rates.
The Nolar Millar Library DVD Collection
In 2019, DEGNZ purchased approximately 3000 DVD titles upon the closure of Videon in Auckland. The broad collection, including many arthouse, auteur director and hard to obtain films, were gifted to the Nola Millar Library at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School.
Borrowing
For an annual library subscription of $50 (normally $70), DEGNZ members can borrow from the DVD collection and gain full access to the Library’s resources. More titles are currently being added to the catalogue.
The Library will post resources to members outside the Wellington suburban transport region. The Library pays the outgoing postage (but reserves the right to charge for heavy, frequent or couriered parcels); the borrower pays the return postage. You can reserve items via the catalogue or contact the library by email or phone with your request. The loan period is 14 days for audiovisual materials.
If you live locally, come in to the Library during opening hours to collect the items you want to borrow. Remember to check that staff are available to help first.

Equity NZ Intimacy Guidelines for Stage and Screen
These Guidelines provide a framework for the stage and screen industries when creating and/or recording performances of intimate scenes, nudity, simulated sexual activity and sexual violence. DEGNZ endorses the Equity NZ Intimacy Guidelines, which cover best practice that directors should follow. They can be downloaded from the Equity NZ website.
Amongst directors, DEGNZ promotes education around safe and respectful practices when working on intimate scenes. We offer practical workshops based on the Equity NZ Guidelines and training developed by UK intimacy coordinator Ita O’Brien.
