Screenlink: Inside the Engine of Mortal Engines

Join 1st Assistant Editor/VFX Editor Dan Best for the rare chance to have an informal look inside the engine room of a multi million dollar VFX heavy feature. Dan will share on handling the logistics involved, the big editorial team required, media walkabout, the skills, the deadlines. The highs and lows of big projects, and surviving a long, long timeframe.

For this Screenlink, DEGNZ will be partnering with our friends at WIFT. Morning tea will be served on arrival. Talk starts at 11am.

Screenlink: Cutting it as a Commercials Director

Come join us for networking drinks at Screenlink on October 10, hosted by Directors & Editors Guild of NZ with New Zealand Advertising Producers Group and Ngā Aho Whakaari.

Director Robin Walters will share on his career in commercials, spanning over 25 years in New Zealand and abroad, and reflect on the changing nature of the industry

Robin has been providing his unique approach to commercials for over a decade, having worked with brands including Ebay, NZTA, Hyundai, Nibble, McDonald’s and Spark. He joined Black Stump Films and later Curious and Robber’s Dog. Earlier this year, Robin started TUTU FILMS with wife Sam.

Known for both comedy and drama, Robins’ work has been commended throughout the industry as some of the most honest and funniest to come out of Australasia in recent years.

Back by popular demand, DEGNZ, SPADA and Equity NZ are excited to present the Auckland version of Screenlink: Importance of Cast in the Current Climate on August 14.

Members will hear from NZ Film Commission CEO Annabelle Sheehan. She will share on the importance of cast in financing feature films and dealing with US talent agents.

Annabelle’s background includes serving from 2004-2013 as CEO and Senior Agent at RGM Artist Group, representing high profile Australian artists in the entertainment industry.
